about
Delivering a colourful cocktail of musical influences, Worcestershire’s Chloe Mogg creates a spacious journey that will take you through all the emotions of music. A driving force in the West Midlands music scene wherever that’s in journalism or creating music, Chloe’s a singer-songwriter who aims to bring life and her vibrant colour to every project. Back with the second single from her upcoming debut album “The Crazy One”, “Better Off” is a gritty, alternative rock track that’s a huge middle finger up to negative people.
“I wrote this at a time in my life when negative people kept weighing me down. I was always a bit of a pushover and let people walk upon me, and then something snapped one day. I thought ‘you know what, I don’t need that in my life anymore’, and ‘Better Off’ was born. It’s simple.. life’s too short, you don’t need toxic people in it!”, shares Chloe.
Showcasing a more blues meets alternative rock approach to Chloe’s songwriting, “Better Off” is simply put as ‘headbanging material’. Musically, the track features the songstress’ iconic harmonies, fuzz-like guitar lines, a pulsating drum beat throughout and a danceable beat to leave people making their way to the nearest dancefloor. Chloe’s last single, “Heaven Sent You” received love across the globe. Praise from EARMILK, Planet Rock, New Noise Magazine and thousands of streams across platforms… she even reached Number #1 on Banks Radio… in Australia!
lyrics
If I stick it to the man, and forget who I am
Does that make me worthy?
If I leave it to my thoughts, but remember all the loss
Will that save the cruelty of the lies
That you spread on my life?
I remember all the times, all the good has passed by
but there was bad, surely?
I leave it in the past, bring it up when i’m asked
and I call that maturity
I tried and I cried my way through it all
Brick walls they surround me
I think I’m better off, I think I’m better off
I think I’m better off, alone
If you see me doing nothing
I hope you know that i’m becoming
Better off, better off
If I tell you how it is, would you really keep me as a Miss?
Would I be guilty?
I loved you all the same, but for you it was a game
One that I could never, ever win
I tried and I lied when I said you were the one
The pain, it does goes away
I’m not lost
I think I’m better off, I think I’m better off
I think I’m better off, alone
If you see me doing nothing
I hope you know that i’m becoming
Better off, better off
I think i’m better off, I think I’m better off
I think I’m better off, alone
[Repeat x 2]
